Škoda Auto becomes minority shareholder in Israeli AI start-up Anagog

Škoda Auto has invested in Israeli start-up Anagog, securing access to new technology in the fields of artificial intelligence (AI) and big data.

Founded in 2010, Anagog’s AI-based technology is already in use in more than 100 different smartphone apps.

Škoda says that the investment is its next move to expand in the Israeli start-up scene. The automaker intends to use the products developed by Anagog to extends its range of services in digital mobility.

It develops technologies ranging from analysis of data from smartphone sensors and will use them in creating movement patterns. The collected data is processed using an AI software.

Škoda Auto CEO Bernhard Maier said: “With our strategic investment in the high-tech start-up Anagog, we are expanding our expertise and access to new technology. Artificial intelligence in the field of mobility plays an important role in this.

“Our Škoda Auto DigiLab Israel Ltd is developing into an important catalyst on our way to becoming the Simply Clever company. Using the technologies developed by Anagog we are in a position to better understand our customers and to offer them tailor-made solutions as a result.”

Škoda Auto stated that digitalisation is one of three major trends besides electromobility and autonomous driving.

Anagog CEO Ofer Tziperman said: “We are proud to have the opportunity to work with a partner as strong as Škoda Auto. Together, we want to develop new digital solutions.”

Škoda also stated that its partner and importer Champion Motors has contributed significantly to the investment. It is a technology investor and together with Škoda Auto has founded the joint venture Škoda Auto DigiLab Israel at the end of last year.

Škoda Auto DigiLab Israel has started collaboration with ten start-ups at the beginning of this year. Six projects are already in concrete project development phase. These start-ups mainly work on the development of artificial intelligence, big data, cyber security and vehicle sensor technology.
